What you’ll do

We have a unique Internet of Things portfolio of IoT Modules with a need for a beast of a management platform which we’ve started building and which you will help put together. This position includes (but is not limited to):

– Designing and building the layers of the portal stretching from back to front-end

– Influencing our direction and using your skills to overcome challenges fast

– Collaborating with the other Pycom teams to give feedback adjacent activities and systems and taking the lead on defining visionary new features

What we need from you

Your social skills:
– You are comfortable working autonomously and up for new challenges
– Startup culture (no 9:00 – 17:00 mentality)
– Good level of English and most of all passion and enthusiasm!

Your technical skills:
– Good back-end JavaScript skills: mongoDB, Node.js, Express
– Experience in creating REST APIs
– Good front-end JavaScript/HTML/CSS skills: Pug, jQuery, Bootstrap
– Familiar with Git
– Knowledge of prototyping and OOP concepts
– Knowledge of unit testing and mocking, preferably in JavaScript
– Comfortable with macOS and its terminal (Bash, grep, etc.)
– Security-awareness

The following technical skills are a plus:
– Experience with Redis or similar
– Experience in D3.js
– Knowledge of Python 3
– Experience in cloud API integration (AWS, Azure, etc.)
– Familiarity with IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, LoRA, SigFox, etc.)

We have a unique Internet of Things portfolio of IoT Modules running MicroPython and we are developing their firmware. We promise all our staff a varied and rich working experience with a lot of individual freedom to help shape the direction. This position includes (but is not limited to):

– Writing device firmware in C. Both peripheral drivers code and communication stacks (TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, LoRa, SIGFOX and NB-IoT)

– Adding new features and optimising the MicroPython virtual machine running on our modules

– Designing a Python API to control the rich peripherals available on our modules (SPI, UART, I2C, ADC, DAC, I2S, LoRa, WiFi, Bluetooth, WDT, Power Management, etc.)

– Influencing our direction and use your skills to overcome challenges fast

– Collaborating with the other Pycom teams to give feedback adjacent activities and systems and take the lead on defining visionary new features

What we need from you

Your social skills:
– You are comfortable working autonomously and up for new challenges
– Startup culture (no 9:00 – 17:00 mentality)
– Good level of English and most of all passion and enthusiasm!

Your technical skills:
– Good C coding skills
– Experience in developing embedded software for 32 bit MCU platforms (ARM Cortex M3, M4 or similar). Both with peripheral drivers and application code
– Experience with Make and GCC’s cross-compilation
– Comfortable with macOS or Linux and the terminal (Bash, grep, etc.)
– Familiar with Git
– Knowledge of unit testing and mocking, preferably in C
– Good Python skills, preferably in Python 3

The following technical skills are a plus:
– Familiarity with IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, LoRA, SigFox, etc.)
– Automated testing for hardware platforms (we are using Jenkins)
– C++ and OOP skills
– Familiarity with the Espressif ESP32 Chipset
